The Pop! Collection is a collection of Pop! Vinyl figures that I have collected over the years. Each of these figures holds some form of meaning to me and they all have a story behind why they are in my collection. Below is a small selection of figures in my collection along with their stories. I hope you enjoy reading them.
This was one of the very first figures I bought, and it was this figure that fuelled my compulsion to collect more. I bought it because I was a fan of the TV show ‘Arrow’ and I guess wanted to show my appreciation for it by having a ‘Green Arrow’ figure to display.
Every time I look at this figure, I’m reminded of the many long nights I stayed up binge watching ‘Game of Thrones.’ I bought this figure when it was first released in stores, because she was my favourite character. Even though at that time I had only just started watching the show, I was immediately addicted and wanted nothing more than to watch it all day long. I love her character in the show because of her epic and badass journey from weak, to one of the most powerful characters in the show.
I was really excited when Pop! announced that ‘Stranger Things’ figures were coming out. I really wanted this ‘Eleven’ figure, because she is one badass child in the TV show. I loved watching ‘Stranger Things’ because of its weird, and interesting fantasy concepts, and because this show came into my life when I was in desperate need of some fantasy. And hey, who doesn’t love a badass telepathic child fighting mythical monsters?
Oh my, do not get me started on ‘The Flash’, this is hands down one of my favourite TV shows of all time. I’ll have to admit, I got onto it when it was already in its second season, but I absolutely love all the twists and turns in this show. Having fallen in love with the show, there was no way I could not buy a ‘Flash’ figure, and what made it even better was that I bought this figure on sale! Win, win! I saved myself some money, and obtained one of my favourite superheroes.
This is the most random figure in my collection, because it’s from ‘Sesame Street’ and, yes it is very much a children’s show. I actually won this figure from a best dressed contest, at my friend’s 21st birthday party. The dress code was ‘architect’ and I was selected as the best dressed! This really caught me by surprise, as I really didn’t put that much effort into my outfit for that night, but that sure boosted my self esteem for that night.
I received this figure as a gift from my sisters, when my family went to Sydney for a short holiday. I didn’t really want to go, so I stayed behind. It was pretty random, my sisters gave this to me when they got back, and were like “we got this for you.” I thought it was sweet, and they made a good choice with the figure, given this particular variant of Newt is an exclusive figure.
This figure takes me back to high school, when my friends and I would binge watch ‘Sherlock’ and come up with theories to solve the cliffhanger at the end of every season. I still enjoy watching this series because of the complexity of the cases, and it’s so intriguing as to how the mind of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ works.
This is probably one of the coolest figures in my collection, because of the magic rune that he’s conjuring. I pre-ordered this before the movie even came out, because it was a comic-con exclusive, and honestly because he looked cool. However, after I watched the movie I was really glad I bought this figure, because I really enjoyed that movie and all the special effects that made the magic look really awesome.
